Who was he waving to?

Our mum's youngest brother and me and my sister Nancy dearly referred to him as 'Our Billy'.  Nancy only 2 years younger than him and me 9 years younger, he always said to  us not to call him uncle as it made him feel old.  He had a reputation to keep up he reminded us.    I remember when he used to visit us and my mum,  Billy, Nancy and I would all be sitting enjoying a cup of tea.   I'd be about 11 at the time.
Billy would see someone outside and jump up waving like mad.  'How you doing' he would mouth and put his thumbs up to the window.  We would dive off our seats to see who was there and we'd all be looking puzzled at Billy.  He couldn't tell us for laughing, there was no one there.  He only did it for a laugh.  He caught us out quite a few times before we got wise to him.  That's the kind of person he was.  He loved to make people laugh and everyone to be happy.  Our Billy you will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved you.  Love you always from Betty,Eddie and family xxx
